Measure travel time, not distance

Check the actual travel time to your workplace, schools and hospitals at peak hours. Map apps let you set a departure time for weekday mornings and evenings.

Find the real access point

An expressway only helps if there is an interchange nearby. Check how far the township is from the nearest entry and exit you would use, and what the road is like in between.

Public transport

• Distance to the nearest railway or metro station.
• Bus routes that serve the township or the main road outside it.
• Last-mile options such as shared autos.

Upcoming infrastructure

New metro lines, ring roads and airports can improve a location, but timelines often change. Look for work actually under way on the ground and check the implementing authority’s latest updates. Don’t rely on a project that has only been announced.

Everyday access

Check that the approach road to the township is paved, wide enough, well lit and does not flood in the monsoon.
